I love to create dreamy nature scenes that capture the imagination and bring a sense of peace and tranquility. Taking the observer on a journey to a magical place where anything is possible! This particular piece is on stretched canvas, but as a sustainable artist I often paint on objects that would otherwise decay or be discarded such as upcycled pallet wood, preserved leaves, pumpkin seeds and teabags and to name a few.

I only started drawing 4 years ago, just as the pandemic started. I usually draw animal portraits in coloured pencils, but spotted this reference photo ( permission to use from Ross Troxa) and I just had to draw it. I love the colours and I had not drawn anything floral before. It took me 65 hours. It is drawn on Bristol Strathmore 400 vellum ( the first time I've used this paper) and measures 11 x 8 inches.

A long time ago I lived in Turkey and I saw this little girl with her big brother's jumper on. It was sunset and beautiful on the beach. The family let me take photos. Its been 15 years since I've looked at them, and when I did this painting had to be done.

The song, Moon River, was a favourite of my Grandparents'. They would sing it at karaoke nights and it was played at my Nan's funeral when she passed. I painted this using my mouth as I am disabled and have limited use of my arms and hands. I gifted it to my Grampy as a tribute to their unwavering love.

A beautiful town in northern Italy - a town who protected partisans during WW2 and suffered the loss of all men and boys as retribution. Today it still bears the marks of war on the walls of the town, with the wooden bridge having been rebuilt a number of times due to war. This mosaic commission was created for a much happier reason, to commemorate a long held friendship between two families, here in Australia and there in Italy. Entirely created with hand cut pieces of glass.

The owner told me that she wanted something fun, relaxing, and beautiful to adorn her shed. She pointed out the she especially hated the electric meter. About 1/2 way across painting on the shed, she came out with ice tea and asked if I could also include the Blue Ridge Mountains. So, I made the building end (made a corner) and then added some blue ridge mountains off in the background. Finished product has feelings of Greece with Blue Ridge mountains, making it a true fantasy piece!

I saw a similar piece somewhere and decided to try this style as opposed to charcoal portraiture. Oils on canvas. A very different path to choose. But I'm loving it so far.
